GM or General Motors Company was founded by William Durant on September 16, 1908. He decided to transform his business as a leading manufacturer of horse-drawn vehicles into engine-powered vehicles.

This American multinational automotive company is headquartered in Detroit, Michigan and the second-largest automaker in the world for 2010. It ranked first in sales and manufacturing for the first half of 2011 last year.

GM logo is a simple initial of “GM” for General motors. It was one of the simplest car logos known to public. Aside from its simplicity in logo lies grandness for it is the parent of other automobile divisions that are popular like the Chevrolet. It contains an appeal to the public compared to other car logos. Among several car logos, GM logo was known for its high sales and big time boss of its division cars.

GM does not only serve Americans but also world consumers in 31 countries by producing cars and trucks in 31 countries. It sells and offers services in vehicles through the following divisions/brands: Buick, Cadillac, Chevrolet, GMC, Opel, Vauxhall, and Holden, Pontiac as well as two joint ventures in China.

GM emerges in the racing tournaments in the World Touring Car Championship, 24 hours of Le Mans, Hours of Le Mans, NASCAR, SCCA, and many other world venues. The company also developed environment initiatives through car models like solar powered, hybrid electric, all electrics, hydrogen and flexible fuel vehicles.
