Maserati is an Italian luxury car manufacturer established on December 1, 1914, in Bologna by Maserati Brothers. The company’s headquarters is now in Modena. It has been owned by the Italian car giant Fiat S.p.A. since 1993. Inside the Fiat Group, Maserati was initially associated with Ferrari S.p.A., but more recently it has become part of the sports car group including Alfa Romeo.

The Maserati logo has a historical origin like other car logos. It is a traditional symbol of the town where the brand’s factory was first built, Bologna, before being moved to Modena. The logo is composed by a red trident above a blue base, which represents Neptune’s trident. History tells that the only Maserati brother that wasn’t particularly passionate about cars and engineering, Mario, was the one that created the logo, basing its design on the Neptune’s statue at Bologna’s Piazza Maggiore.  The simple company logo created a name in a sea of car logos. It was known globally as one of the famous car logos that continues to exist.

It has a long story of survival and struggle for existence up to its present fame. Some of the most famous cars in Maserati history, like the Bora, Merak, and Khamsin, were produced in the early 70s before the global gas crisis took full effect.

In today’s automotive market, Maserati is the symbol of elegance, prestige and luxury.
