Maserati car company logoMaserati is an Italian luxury car manufacturer established on December 1, 1914, in Bologna. The company’s headquarters is now in Modena. It has been owned by the Italian car giant Fiat S.p.A. since 1993. Inside the Fiat Group, Maserati was initially associated with Ferrari S.p.A., but more recently it has become part of the sports car group including Alfa Romeo.

The company was founded by Maserati brothers. It has a long story of survival for existence up to its present fame. Some of the of the most famous cars in Maserati history, like the Bora, Merak, and Khamsin, were produced in the early 70s before the global gas crisis took full effect. The auto maker, like many others, hit the skids, and Maserati was saved from closure by the Italian government. Argentinian Formula 1 driver Alejandro De Tomaso, along with the Benelli Company, helped resurrect Maserati, and in 1976, they launched the Kyalami. The 80s were a quiet period for the company.

The Maserati logo has a historical origin like other car logos. It is a traditional symbol of the town where the brand’s factory was first built, Bologna, before being moved to Modena. The Maserati logo is composed by a red trident above a blue base, which represents Neptune’s trident. History tells that the only Maserati brother that wasn’t particularly passionate about cars and engineering, Mario, was the one that created the Maserati logo, basing its design on the Neptune’s statue at Bologna’s Piazza Maggiore.  The simple company logo created a name in a sea of car logos. It was known globally as one of the famous car logos that continues to exist.

In today’s automotive market, Maserati is the symbol of elegance, prestige and luxury. The Company and the cars it produces embody a distinct Italian style. It has a tradition of success on the racing circuit and gives off the aura of superior craftsmanship, sophistication and world-class technology. Maserati history continues to push forward, building more than 2,000 cars each year.
